The Societe Nautique de Saint-Tropez with the patronage of the International Dragon Association (IDA) of the French Association of International Dragon Series (AFSID) organizes from 6 to 11 October 2009, the European Championship of Dragon St. Tropez.
 
The event will host more than 80 Dragon selected among the best European countries. From around the world, competitors are allowed so soon after the Voiles de Saint-Tropez to play five days of regattas in the Gulf of St. Tropez.
 
The Dragon and Saint-Tropez, a relationship that endures
Following the success in 2004 of the 75th anniversary of Dragon which has gathered more than 260 Dragon St. Tropez, the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez and the French Association of International Dragon Series (AFSID) reissued each year this event you in October.
Thus, since 2005, competition DRAGON SAINT-TROPEZ occurred just after the Voiles de Saint-Tropez. This event attracted the dragons, satisfied with the professionalism of the race committee, and of course the friendliness of their land is reserved. This reflects the mood of the Dragon, a mixture of sportsmanship and friendship.
So the month of October 2008, IDA (International Dragon Association) and AFSID, who sought a structure in France to organize the European Championship in 2009, naturally named the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez . Chaired by André Beaufils, the club has all the necessary safeguards with extensive experience of major events including the Dragon, kindly take up the challenge with the collaboration of André-Julien Desmet, past president of his AFSID even based in the Gulf and one of the staunchest defenders of Dragon Saint Tropez. Xavier Rouget Luchaire also past president of the AFSID, is coordinating the event.
A great competition to follow as much as this time the water Tropézien is relieved of all peak summer and you can enjoy excellent conditions commonly called "Indian Summer".
 
Olympic elected for 24 years, the Dragon will celebrate its 80th anniversary
The DRAGON was an Olympic boat for 24 years before leaving the site and Soling. Designed to bring sailing to an audience of young athletes, the Dragon has won the champions and kings. The best Dragon for the European Championship
The rules for qualification to participate in the championship are defined in a text available on the website of the International Dragon Association (www.intdragon.org). These specify the number and quality of yachts that will be selected. Each country through its association Dragon selects the best yachts according to their ranking in Test series ... The national quantity is defined by the number of vessels registered class country. Other dragons will be "invited" by the agreement of IDA and depending Club organizer of the event. We can not yet say with certainty who will be attending this year, which depends on the selections but no doubt that the competition looks promising!
